Despite repeated protestations by Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge to the contrary, there is still a feeling around the NBA that Ainge will make star guard Rajon Rondo available on the trade market before the February trade deadline.
Per Howard Beck of Bleacher Report, "Celtics president Danny Ainge has repeatedly indicated that he wants to keep Rondo, but rival GMs expect him to test the waters, just as he did last season."
Rondo has been the subject of trade rumors on many an occasion, so it's unclear as to whether he'd actually be willing to part with the current face of the franchise.
However, with the 28-year-old point guard slated to hit unrestricted free agency after the 2014-15 season and the Celtics seemingly committed to their current youth movement, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Ainge would pull the trigger on a trade and get some assets in return prior to Rondo hitting free agency next July.
