In today's Celtics rumors and news update, the Boston Celtics are currently doing as much work as they can in order to present an attractive trade scenario to the Minnesota Timberwolves in hopes of landing Kevin Love.
According to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, "a league source said Monday that president of basketball operations Danny Ainge is attempting to gather assets to acquire Kevin Love, convinced he can devise a package that would entice Minnesota Timberwolves president Flip Saunders to move the three-time All-Star, who will be a free agent next season."
Per two more of Washburn's sources, "Ainge has been dogged in his pursuit of Love, and several agents believe he has the creativity to put together an attractive package."
As the Boston Celtics are pretty much out of salary cap space at this point, there isn't a whole lot of maneuverability on that front. However, they still have a $10.2 million from last year's Paul Pierce deal which they have to use by Saturday.
Ainge could very well use that as a trade chip, along with some of the team's young assets in order to entice the Minnesota Timberwolves into making a swap.
Chat Sports will have more on Ainge's quest to bring Love to Boston as additional information is made available.
