Prior to what may be his final game as an active NBA player in Boston, Boston Celtics fans gave Brooklyn Nets big man Kevin Garnett a hearty standing ovation prior to Friday's Boxing Day matinee contest at TD Garden.
Those cheers didn't stop as the game went on.
As Kelly Dwyer of Yahoo! Sports wrote on Friday night, "Garnett remains undecided on a retirement decision, possibly because biding his time on a poorly-constructed and middling Brooklyn Nets team in the potential final year of his career isn’t working as the storyboard ending for some who might arguably be the best player of his generation. It’s only been a few years, but he feels far removed from Boston’s brilliant 2008 title run and the near misses in 2010 and 2012."
Garnett spent the first 12 seasons of his NBA career as a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves, before becoming the centerpiece of a magical run with the Boston Celtics from 2007-13. 2014-15 marks his second season with the Brooklyn Nets, and he continues to be used in a reduced role as he nears two decades as a player.
