The Boston Celtics have signed rookie shooter Andre Dawkins to a 10-day contract to fill the roster spot created when they waived Chris Douglas-Roberts.
Douglas-Roberts was acquired in the trade that sent Austin Rivers to the Los Angeles Clippers, and was expected to be released before he ever suited up for the team.
Dawkins played four games with the Miami Heat earlier this season, but was waived two weeks ago. He then joined the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA D-League, where he's averaging 24 points a game and shooting 54 percent from three-point range. His biggest splash in the D-League came when he scored 42 points on 12/15 shooting from beyond the arc.
Boston has been looking for more outside shooting, and the 10-day contract allows them to give Dawkins a test run to see how he fits in their system.
