Cleveland Cavs star Kevin Love took a much-publicized trip to Boston this past offseason, filling many Boston Celtics fans' heads with visions of him in Celtic green.
That obviously didn't happen in 2014-15 with Love having been traded to the Cavs, but the mere possibility was still enough to cause ripples of excitement across the nation.
“I love this city,” Love said of his headline-grabbing Boston trip, . “I always planned on coming back here, checking out Red Sox games. Growing up being a big Boston Celtics fan, it’s fun to play here. And we’re hoping to come in and get a win tonight against a team that’s well-coached and has some young talent.”
Love remains unsure of whether or not a trade to the Celtics was every a possibility during the offseason.
“I don’t know. It’s tough because I wasn’t a free agent last summer,” he said, speaking after the Cavaliers shootaround at the TD Garden. “Potential to be a free agent this summer or next. It’s just one of those things. It’s obviously a tremendous city; people love it here. Basketball and sports in general are huge here. But it’s been fantastic being a part of the Cavaliers now. We have a team that’s formidable, has a big presence, and we see a lot of you guys (media) on a daily basis.”
