Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson has been suspended seven games by the NHL department of player safety for a hit that sent Boston Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo to the hospital on Friday night.
While there are no "in-person" hearings due to COVID-19, Wilson was offered one on Saturday less than 24 hours after the hit. While phone hearings typically indicate that the NHL is considering a suspension of five games or fewer, an "in-person" hearing meant it was considering one of a greater length, and that proved true.
Carlo was released from the hospital Saturday, after spending the night.
