Up 4-1, Maple Leafs fans were nervous about a repeat of the 2013 meltdown against Bruins

In the end, the Maple Leafs survived the Bruins’ comeback effort in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs matchup. Toronto’s 4-3 win staved off elimination, with Game 6 now to come.

Yet despite amassing a 4-1 lead against the Bruins, many Maple Leafs fans remained unconvinced. Some were especially nervous, considering the two teams’ playoff history. In 2013, Boston trailed 4-1 in Game 7 against Toronto, only to rally miraculously and win 5-4 in overtime.

Five years later, the memory remains a painfully present one as Maple Leafs fans noted on Twitter:

Allow me to be the first person to make the joke about how I’m nervous about the Leafs holding a lead in an elimination game in Boston.
