The NHL Department of Player Safety has levied a two-game suspension against Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchard for spearing Tampa Bay’s Jake Dotchin during the first period of the Bruins-Lightning game on April 4.
After the play, Marchard received a five-minute major and game misconduct penalty. He called the incident “undisciplined” in a post-game interview.
The Bruins did go on to win the game over Tampa Bay, 4-0, clinching their first playoff berth since 2014. The team has just two regular-season games left on their schedule, meaning Marchand will miss the remainder of the regular season.
