Back in October, Ryan Spooner’s stock was as low as it’s been since he was drafted in the second round by the Bruins in 2010, not just within his own organization but seemingly across the league.
After the B’s rolled out the red carpet for him to win the fourth-line center spot, he couldn’t seize the job, even with an injured Gregory Campbell unable to compete for his own job.
And according to an ESPN story published just after the trade deadline, then-Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli offered Spooner and a second-round pick to Buffalo for Chris Stewart, who is in the last year of his contract.
