WILMINGTON — After posting two seasons to his professional resume, center Ryan Spooner was in danger of joining the far-too-long list of early-round Bruins draft picks unable to earn full-time jobs in the NHL.
“He had chances earlier in his career,” B’s executive director of player personnel John Ferguson said. “But for whatever reasons, he wasn’t able to make it work, he wasn’t able to make himself stick.”
With numerous call-ups from the AHL and subsequent demotions, Spooner grew very familiar with the drive between Boston and Providence. But when Spooner, who had been sent back down after playing the first five games last season for the parent club and spent four months in the AHL, was recalled by the Bruins last season on Feb.
