Report: Don Sweeney a Finalist for Bruins GM Job

The Bruins vacant general manager position may not be empty for much longer.

Citing an unnamed league source, ESPNBoston.com’s Joe McDonald reports that the Bruins have narrowed their GM search down to four names, including former Bruins defenseman and current assistant GM Don Sweeney.

Sweeney has been in the Bruins front office since 2006, when he was hired as the team’s director of player development. He was named the director of hockey operations in 2007 before becoming the Bruins assistant GM before the 2009-10 season. Sweeney was named the GM for the Bruins’ AHL affiliate Providence Bruins in August 2014.
