Just an hour before Friday’s 3 p.m. deadline, the Bruins are reportedly moving on from one of their longest-tenured players.
According to Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic, the Bruins have traded center Charlie Coyle to the Colorado Avalanche — with The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun adding that 26-year-old center Casey Mittelstadt is heading back to Boston.
Daily Faceoff’s Anthony Di Marco added that the Bruins are also getting a 2025 second-round pick and prospect Will Zellers from Colorado as part of the return for Coyle.
Coyle — a Weymouth native — has been a stalwart of Boston’s middle-six grouping for the past seven years, with the veteran center playing 452 games with the Bruins and recording 230 points over that stretch.
