The Boston Bruins topped the Buffalo Sabres, 3-2, in a shootout on the heels of a four-game point streak from Craig Smith and a strong defensive game.
Smith now has two goals and four assists in his last four games and scored the go-ahead goal in the second period to help the Bruins control the game.
The Bruins defense aided in the win, with an overall strong night. The blue line accounted for 9 of the team’s 34 shots.
The Sabres opened the scoring at 1:52 of the first period on their first shot of the game.
