Prust fined $5,000 for spearing Marchand in the “fun spot”

Brad Marchand began his 400th game by scoring his 13th goal of the season. It ended with a Brandon Prust spear to Marchand’s lower body area that we can only describe as not safe for work.

On Sunday, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety fined Prust $5,000 for his actions late in the third period of the Bruins’ 4-0 triumph over the Canucks. The money from the fine will go directly to the league’s Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

No one quite knows what led to Prust spearing Marchand. But we do know that Marchand had a jab of his own afterwards.
