After a rough battle between two heated rivals last night, most of the talk was around whether or not Toronto’s Zach Hyman would be suspended for his late, high hit on Charlie McAvoy, who had just returned for a long concussion recovery. Many in Boston pointed to not just the extreme lateness (1.0 seconds), and the perceived highness, but most importantly the context of the hit, with Hyman having been chasing McAvoy most of the game and laying a brutal hit late in a blowout loss. Those in Toronto largely just complained about Boston’s Chris Wagner targeting star defenseman Morgan Rielly in retaliation, believing if Hyman received further punishment, then Wagner should also.
