I’m a day late here, but apparently yesterday was the 14th anniversary of the Bruins signing both Zdeno Chara and Marc Savard.
Talk about a franchise-altering day!
You could certainly make the argument that Chara was the best free-agent signing in Bruins history, and was one of the rare big-money free agents who worked out as advertised.
Savard, of course, was great too, but due to injuries, his impact on the team wasn’t as great as Chara’s.
Imagine hearing on the day the photo above was taken that 14 years later, Zdeno Chara would still be effectively captaining the team?
