Last night, a Dorchester native got a chance to live a boyhood dream.
Jimmy Hayes laced up his skates, donned a spoked-B sweater and took the ice at the Garden to battle the Montreal Canadiens.
“It’s a dream come true to get to play against a team like that,” the new Bruin said with a grin.
Having grown up in the middle of Boston — Adams Village, to be exact — Hayes is well-versed in one of hockey’s most heated rivalries. He’s watched the B’s and Habs square off since before he could skate, and he understands the storied history.
