Two of the final items on general manager Don Sweeney’s to-do list have been checked off, as the Bruins yesterday announced new contracts for restricted free agent wingers Jimmy Hayes and Brett Connolly.
Hayes, acquired last week in a trade with Florida for Reilly Smith, gets a new three-year deal worth $2 million, $2.4 million and $2.5 million, for an average salary cap hit of $2.3 million. That’s a tidy raise for a guy who earned $925,000 last season.
Connolly, who was promptly injured and saw sparse action with the B’s late last season after being picked up from Tampa Bay, gets a one-year pact worth $1.
