MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. — Jim Montgomery was in a good mood as he met with the media after a recent Blues practice at Centene Community Ice Center, and why wouldn’t he be?
After getting dismissed by the Bruins just one month into the season, the veteran coach has helped orchestrate a remarkable turnaround in St. Louis. Going into the 4 Nations Face-off break, the Blues were 25-26-5 and eight points out of the playoff spots.
Fast forward to Tuesday night, and Montgomery’s Blues beat visiting Utah, 6-1, to secure the second and final wild-card spot in the Western Conference playoffs.
