Don Sweeney wasted little time making his first move as the Bruins general manager.
A day after being promoted, Sweeney inked Finnish center Joonas Kemppainen to a one-year, $700,000 contract. The two-way deal brings Kemppainen to North American pro hockey for the first time, as the 27-year-old spent his previous five seasons with Oulun Kärpät of the Finnish Elite League.
Kemppainen had 11 goals and 21 assists in 59 regular-season contests, and went on a tear in the postseason with 10 goals and 14 assists in 19 playoff games.
Kemppainen is also coming off an impressive showing at the IIHF World Championships, where he had three goals and six assists in eight games.
