Former Bruins coach Don Cherry has been fired from his position on Canadian television network Sportsnet after making xenophobic comments on air Saturday night, the Toronto Sun is reporting.

The longtime broadcaster went on a rant about the lack of poppies he had seen leading up to Remembrance Day. In Canada, the flowers are traditionally worn in honor of veterans.
“I live in Mississauga,’’ Cherry said. “Nobody wears, very few people, wear a poppy.
