PROVIDENCE- It may be a loss, but it was a pretty fun way to start the playoffs. Despite a slow start, allowing two Morgan Geekie goals in a little over three and a half minutes to start the game, Providence battled back to take the lead and, after surrendering said lead, battled back to tie the game in the third. But 22 seconds after Paul Carey’s late-frame equalizer, Bobby Sanguinetti’s pass in front somehow squeezed by Zane McIntyre (22 saves) for the eventual winner as the Charlotte Checkers held on to defeat the Providence Bruins 5-4 last night in Game One of the First Round of the Calder Cup playoffs at the Dunkin Donuts Center.
