Here’s a random bit of Swedish news for your Monday afternoon: the Bruins announced that they’ve signed forward Jesper Frödén to a one-year contract.
The deal will carry a cap hit of $842,500, an oddly specific number.
Frödén most recently played for Skellefteå AIK in the Swedish Hockey League, the top-tier league over in Sweden (and probably the third-best league in the world, behind the NHL and the KHL).
The 26-year-old Frödén was never drafted into the NHL and has spent his entire career playing at various levels in his native Sweden.
Frödén is 5’ 10” and 176 lbs, per EliteProspects.
