WILMINGTON — When rookies report to Bruins development camp each July, the organization takes a welcoming approach to the newbies. Acclimation is stressed, not competition.
But this is September, not July, and training camp is right around the corner. Yesterday, a few rookies underwent conditioning testing. Not everyone passed.
General manager Don Sweeney did not name names or how many flunked the test — three separate 300-meter dashes to be performed in under a minute with three-minute breaks in between.
To their credit, all three first-round picks from last June’s draft — defenseman Jakub Zboril and forwards Zach Senyshyn and Jake DeBrusk — ’fessed up to not making the cut.
