WILMINGTON — With the start of the season a little more than a week away and the Bruins overloaded with young or inexperienced defensemen, it was good news yesterday at Ristuccia Arena to see captain Zdeno Chara on the ice for a second straight day.
The 38-year-old Chara, sidelined by an undisclosed upper-body injury, skated by himself before his mates took the ice and will not play tonight in New York against the Rangers, the B’s next-to-last preseason game.
If Chara isn’t ready to face the Washington Capitals in Friday’s final exhibition, then he’s played only one preseason game, not exactly the ideal preparation for a season in which he’ll be counted on heavily.
