Bruins Notebook: Finnish forward in town Joonas Kemppainen for NHL job

WILMINGTON — The only real disappointment of the first day of Bruins development camp was the fact that forward Joonas Kemppainen was unable to participate in the on-ice session after suffering a hamstring injury while doing some off-ice training last week.

The 27-year-old, who signed with the B’s as a free agent after his season in Finland ended, is on hand, however, and there is still a chance he can make an appearance on the ice before the week is out.

Even if he doesn’t get out on the ice during this camp for youngsters — he’s almost a decade older than some of the invitees — Kemppainen felt it was important to get his feet wet within the organization.
