Kevin Shattenkirk’s wallet is going to be a bit lighter this week.
The Bruins defenseman was fined $2,734.38, the maximum allowable under the NHL’s collective bargaining agreement, for unsportsmanlike conduct during Boston’s 6-4 win over the Penguins on Saturday night.
The NHL did not note in its press release what exactly Shattenkirk did to earn the fine, but stated that the blueliner’s infraction was against Penguins forward Michael Bunting.
In the closing seconds of the first period, Shattenkirk grazed Bunting with his stick as the Pittsburgh skater glided past Boston’s bench.
