Geneviève Lacasse, a veteran of four seasons and two Clarkson Championships with the Boston Blades, was traded to Calgary. It’s understood that this completes a trade that landed Tara Watchorn in Boston two years ago, who was acquired for future considerations.
The move sets the Blades back significantly in their rebuilding process. Lacasse had an astounding 1,023 saves on the season, almost doubling the next highest total. Boston GM Krista Patronick honored the player’s wishes admirably, but admits it will make it a tough year for a rebuild.
“We’re obviously upset to lose her, and sad,” said Patronick.
