It took nine games, but someone finally did it.
The Connecticut Whale are now 8-1.
Despite the depleted squads for both teams, Sunday's match up at Chelsea Piers was hard-fought and evenly-matched. The Boston Pride overthrew the number one team in the league without the help of Hilary Knight, Brianna Decker, or any of their fellow Team USA players, who are participating in USA Hockey's Winter Training Camp in Blaine, Minn. In total, the Whale were missing six players from their roster, including their leading scorer Shiann Darkangelo, while the Pride were without eight. Boston was so shorthanded that their general manager, Hayley Moore, had to lace up her skates and join The Pack for the afternoon, wearing Jordan Smelker's #11.
