Battle of Comm Ave alumni set to take the ice for ALS

From Beanpots to matchups in the Hockey East and NCAA tournaments, many chapters have been written in the Battle of Commonwealth Avenue. On Friday night, there will be another chapter written when notable alumni from both schools face off in the Comm Ave Charity Classic at Walter Brown Arena.

Even better, the two teams are coming together to raise money for a good cause. All proceeds from Friday’s event will go towards Compassionate Care ALS.

The idea was started by former Eagles forward and two-time national champion Pat Mullane (class of 2013). The BC community has been directly affected by ALS and three notable alumni, including Pete Fretes (who inspired the ice bucket challenge that went viral last summer), longtime Sports Information Director Dick Kelley (who lost his battle to the disease last year) Richard Armstrong and Ron Perryman, will be honored during Friday’s festivities.
