With things not going Washington's way last night, Anthony Mantha decided to take it upon himself to try to shake up Tuukka Rask.
The play ended up hurting in more ways than one: Mantha got called for a penalty, the Bruins scored on the ensuing power play, and now, Mantha's wallet is $5,000 lighter.
The NHL announced today that Mantha was fined $5,000 for goalie interference on Rask, the maximum fine allowed by the CBA.
Watching the replay again, it's not hard to see why: Mantha 100% ran Rask on purpose.
This wasn't the usual case of a player being unable to stop, or getting pushed into the goalie by an opponent.
