After 16 seasons in the NHL, Andrew Ference has decided to retire from playing hockey.

While he’s spend the last four years in the Oilers organization, he was longest tenured here in Boston, where he played between the 2006-07 season and the 2012-13 season. He scored 21 career goals, 16 regular season and 5 in the playoffs, in the Black and Gold, with a magical memory of a middle finger at the Bell Centre and a Stanley Cup hoisted over his head. Off the ice, he is a humanitarian and environmentalist, involved heavily with the November Project and with a carbon-neutral program running in the NHL.
