In what is an historic day for Bronco’s track and field, Ms. Allie Ostrander has successfully defended her national title in the 3,000m steeplechase.
There are several reasons that this is a big deal. Per the Bronco Sports track and field twitter, Ostrander is the first runner to win back-to-back steeplechase races in underclass years. And it is the third-straight year of a Mountain West athlete winning the steeplechase (Courtney Frerichs of UNM won in 2016).
This win for Ostrander puts her in rare air for Broncos athletes.
As if Ostrander didn’t already punch a ticket for the Boise State hall of fame, this repeat performance makes her the surest lock since Kellen Moore.
