STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Penn State running back Saquon Barkley realizes that Kent State will almost certainly load the box Saturday in an attempt to bottle him up.
He welcomes it.
“I feel like if you’re going to load the box, go ahead. I welcome you to,” Barkley said. “We have a lot of playmakers; they’re going to step up when the time is called.”
Barkley didn’t share that sentiment last season. It’s not that he didn’t have faith in his teammates; he was just a freshman who couldn’t stand the frustration of carrying the ball and heading nowhere.
