Darrell Hazell insists progress has been made during his tenure as head coach. But the reality is that progress is measured by how a team performs on Saturdays in the fall, when the fruits of Hazell's labor can truly be judged. And in that regard, improvement has significantly stalled.
That is a tough pill to swallow for Boilermakers fans, who have seen their program slide into irrelevancy, somewhere in the depths of the college football abyss with no hope to remove itself in sight.
"I'm sure it is for a lot of people that don't see what we see," Hazell said.
