Michigan State has 'no secrets' about championship aspirations

It took 10 days for the first mention of a national championship.

Ten days after Michigan State finished its season with a win at the 2015 Cotton Bowl, all-conference defensive end Shilique Calhoun held a news conference to announce he would return for his final year of eligibility rather than move on to the NFL. In explaining his decision, Calhoun set a high bar for the year to come less than two weeks after the calendar turned over.

"I'm going to take my last hoorah, come out and have a great season," Calhoun said. "With the talent that we have on this team, I know that we can go far.
