This was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Maryland Terrapins, a time to reload on offense and improve on defense. A time to set a foundation for the future.
Instead, Maryland still managed to limbo beneath already low expectations.
The end of the Randy Edsall Era came early enough, with athletic director Kevin Anderson acknowledging that thoughts of terminating Edsall came right after a Week 2, three-touchdown loss to Bowling Green. Edsall was let go about a month later, after Maryland was outscored 122-34 during a three-game losing streak.
Maryland finished with just three wins, although the first two – over Richmond and South Florida – weren’t exactly noteworthy.
