Iowa running back LeShun Daniels Jr. can't pinpoint the exact moment, but he realized late last season that he could form a truly special backfield tandem in 2016 with teammate Akrum Wadley. So special, he said, that the duo openly and confidently discussed the possibility of each eclipsing the 1,000-yard rushing plateau.
"It was obviously in the back of our heads," Daniels said. "It was something that we talked about, something that we believed we could achieve. We thought that we were talented enough that we could do it."
What neither player realized was that, if they each accomplished such a goal, they would be doing something that had never been done in the history of Iowa's football program.
