Our countdown of the 25 most iconic Big Ten plays of the past decade came to end Friday morning with the unveiling of the top five.
At the top stood Ezekiel Elliott’s 85-yard dash to the end zone against Alabama in the College Football Playoff semifinal on New Year’s Day 2015. Ellliott’s run met all of our criteria, combining a spectacular individual accomplishment with meaning of the highest order. It pushed Ohio State past Alabama to face Oregon and ultimately to a national title.
That said, we’d be remiss not to recognize Michigan State’s iconic, 22-play, 82-yard drive over the final nine minutes of the 2015 Big Ten title game against Iowa.
