One of the most well-known bowl games in Wisconsin history came against USC in 1963, when the teams met in a memorable Rose Bowl. The second-ranked Badgers trailed by four touchdowns in the fourth quarter before staging a monumental comeback that fell short, 42-37, against the top-ranked Trojans.
The stakes aren't nearly as high this time around when the teams meet in the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 30 -- their first bowl matchup since that Rose Bowl -- but we can only hope for a contest that comes close on the entertainment scale. Both teams will be playing for pride in a game with the potential to help each side feel a bit better about the way an underwhelming season finished.
