MADISON, Wis. -- Corey Clement corralled a toss play on the right hashmark, shed a blocker with a stiff-arm, evaded a shoestring tackler near midfield and seemed destined for the end zone and his fourth touchdown of Saturday's game. But the strides on Wisconsin's thoroughbred of a running back quickly shortened and stiffened, and Rutgers defensive back Anthony Cioffi unexpectedly tackled Clement from behind just shy of the goal line.
In a single sequence, Clement demonstrated two important aspects of his game during Wisconsin's 48-10 annihilation of Rutgers at Camp Randall Stadium. First, after an eight-week layoff due to a sports hernia injury, he is nowhere near the full-strength version some thought might become a possible Heisman Trophy finalist before the season.
