Complicated -- and potentially controversial -- playoff ranking finish awaits Big Ten teams

College basketball has March Madness, but college football is headed toward December Delirium as it closes in on the final playoff selection show this Sunday. And, as we've known for weeks, the Big Ten will be right in the thick of the discussion -- and potential controversy.

In the penultimate College Football Playoff poll, released Tuesday night, four Big Ten teams remained in the top seven, with Ohio State sticking at No. 2, Michigan dropping two spots to fifth, Wisconsin holding steady in sixth and Penn State staying put at seventh. The selection committee has not chosen a two-loss team in the previous two years of the playoff, but the winner of the Big Ten championship between Wisconsin and Penn State certainly would boast a strong case.
