NEW YORK – Xavier guard J.P. Macura has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Villanova forward Omari Spellman has taken BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors. Both players helped their teams to 2-0 weeks. Macura’s Musketeers defeated St. John’s at home and Seton Hall on the road. Spellman’s Wildcats beat Georgetown at home and won at Connecticut.

J.P. Macura, Xavier, G, Sr. – Macura led Xavier to a 2-0 week, including a 73-64 win at No. 19 Seton Hall. In the win against the Pirates, Macura scored a season-high 27 points, grabbed five rebounds and dealt three assists.
