Although Chris Mack wasn't named BIG EAST Coach of the Year on Wednesday, to the surprise of many, Mack's day had a silver lining. He was named the USBWA Coach of the Year.
Mack, who has led Xavier to a 26-4 record this season, is the first coach in Xavier history to win the award.
It has been a banner year for Mack, who has been in the conversation for multiple National Coach of the Year awards this season, including Sporting News'.
Mack joins John Thompson, Lou Carnesecca (twice), Jim Boeheim, and Mike Brey as BIG EAST recepients of the USBWA Coach of the Year Award.
