The Xavier Musketeers returned to action Wednesday afternoon to open the Xavier Invitational against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, and the Musketeers came away with an emphatic 101-49 victory. This marks the first time Xavier scored 100+ points in a game since their 102-83 victory in the opening round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament against Texas Southern.
The first four minutes of the game proved predictably sluggish, as the teams were tied at four. Once Xavier got rolling, though, it was lights out. The Musketeers went on a 49-6 run over the rest of the half to go into the locker room up 53-12.
