St. John’s improves to 2-0 on season with win over La Salle

The St. John’s Red Storm improved to 2-0 Thursday afternoon with an 82-65 home victory over the La Salle Explorers.

Vince Cole followed up his game-winning three-pointer Wednesday night by being the leading scorer in Thursday’s contest, recording 19 points for the Red Storm on 6-14 shooting and going a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.

Unlike Wednesday night’s back and forth affair, Thursday saw St. John’s take a lead early on and keep building upon it throughout.

The Red Storm were without Rasheem Dunn (concussion) and Julian Champagnie (ankle), but didn’t seem to be troubled by the lack of available players, nor were they troubled by the fact that it was their second game in 18 hours.
