St. John’s guard Shamorie Ponds declares for NBA draft; will forgo senior season

After three seasons with the St. John’s Red Storm, guard Shamorie Ponds has his sights set on the NBA.

Ponds announced on Instagram Thursday night that he would be forgoing his senior season in favor of hiring an agent and entering the NBA Draft.

In his three years in Queens, Ponds was an electric player, averaging 19.5 points, 4.5 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game in 96 career appearances for the Red Storm.

Ponds is projected to be a first round pick in the draft, so the time is right.
