The Hall and fellow New Jersey school Rutgers were in on Alvarado, but the Rambling Wreck have scooped him up instead.
Class of 2017 point guard Jose Alvarado of Christ The King High School has committed to Georgia Tech.
The Yellow Jackets have plucked Alvarado away from nearby Rutgers and the Seton Hall Pirates as well, as the three schools had been in hot pursuit of the fourth-ranked player in the state of New York for quite some time.
The news of his commitment first came from ESPN’s Adam Finkelstein on Thursday afternoon.
Recently, it had been thought that the Scarlet Knights were actually the favorites to land the 6-foot, 160-pound point guard from Middle Village, New York, but he will instead skate down to Atlanta to play for head coach Brian Gregory who led Georgia Tech to a 21-15 record in the 2015-16 season.
