NEW YORK – Creighton’s Justin Patton, Villanova’s Josh Hart and Xavier’s Edmond Sumner were the three BIG EAST players selected in the 2017 NBA Draft. Patton and Hart were taken in the first round and Sumner was a second-round pick at the draft held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Patton, a 7-0 center who was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Year this past season, was taken 16th overall by the Chicago Bulls, then immediately traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. For Creighton, Patton averaged 12.9 points and a team-leading 6.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots per game.
