NEW YORK – A total of 19 BIG EAST student-athletes will travel to Eugene, Ore., June 9-12, for the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. UConn’s Jordan Torney and Marquette’s Joe Keys had previously qualified for the decathlon, as 17 additional competitors punched their national championship tickets over the weekend at regional meets in Jacksonville, Fla., and College Station, Texas. Butler, Georgetown and Villanova each boast four national qualifiers, while UConn and Providence each will send three to Eugene.
BIG EAST student-athletes continued to make their marks in the distance events, as four qualified in the men’s 10,000-meter run, two in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase and three in the men’s 1,5000m.
